Flexibility is an important physical quality for soccer players; however, traditional static stretching can inhibit performance in games and in training. So, when is the best time to have players stretch?
Taking a short period after training or a game to have the players come together and stretch will benefit them in both the short and long term. Ideally, we will want to stretch each muscle slowly, one time for about 30-40 seconds. If we do so evenly across the body to provide balance and symmetry in the muscles, we should see better function in controlling the joints and fewer muscle injuries.

If you have all of your players follow this and perform each stretch for 30 seconds, you will spend about 6 minutes at the close of your time together and gain a massive benefit over the course of a season.
